Investigators are now pointing the finger at lettuce as the culprit in the Taco Bell E.coli outbreak. Has anyone considered that just maybe the diarrhea simply came from eating at Taco Bell? I'm pretty sure anything on their menu could potentially cause abdominal cramping and kidney failure. Blaming the lettuce? I smell a red herring.

I think you are an absolute genius. I hadn't put it together before but yes, now it is all very clear!
Given my inability to eat at MOST fast food restaurants without experiencing e. coli-esque symptoms, it should surprise you not at all that I have NEVER eaten at a Taco Bell in my entire life. Nor Hardee's or Checker's. Strange but true!
ack! I forgot about this outbreak and actually ate at Taco Bell yesterday for the first time in like 2 years!
Kim -- if you have a sensitive stomach, those are some very wise choices indeed not to partake in! Checkers is good, but it is definitey lathered in "stuff" (otherwise known as "special sauce" or mayo)
My ex used to work at Taco Bell, among other fast food establishments, during the time we were in college. He actually said that Taco Bell was the cleanest and had the most items actually resembling food there.
However, I think Taco Bell is vile and avoid it at all costs.
um...
does anyone else like taco bell?
One of the worst cases of overeating I've ever done was once when my mom and I went to Taco Bell hungry - and ordered about $20 worth of food.
I confess that I too sort of enjoy Taco Bell from time to time...especially the soft tacos. Mmm.
I sort of miss the fact that I don't get to choose whether or not I should go to Taco Bell. It's one of the many constraints of living in the Bay Area. Even if I wanted to run to the Border, there's none to be found -- unless I really run straight south towards San Diego and then Tijuana...
