My very good friend from college - and specifically from the hallowed halls of Oak Hill - Laura had her third baby last Wednesday, August 1. Samuel Owen is her first boy, weighing in at 6 lbs., 11 oz. and measuring 19.75" long. Little Sam is having trouble breathing on his own and is in NICU on a respirator. Please keep him, his mother and father, and his two big sisters in your prayers and good thoughts.

Tiny little babies who need a little help is truly one of the most heart wrenching things... thank God for medical advances.
I'm sure baby Sam will have this licked in no time! That looks like the hand of a fighter!
Definitely. Sounds like little Sam is a healthy weight and has a loving and adoring family waiting on him, so I feel confident he will feel your presence and recover fully very soon. Keep us posted.

Laura says Sam has improved and they have put him on a different machine that assists with his breathing but isn't necessarily doing it for him. They've taken him off sedation and he got a little sponge bath today. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for your good thoughts!
thanks to everyone for the thoughts and prayers- we saw Sam again tonight and the dr. said that maybe by tomorrow night or thursday he would be off the ventilator- and i might get to hold him! he has to behave tonight in order for that to happen. ashley- thanks for posting the request for prayer, i needed that tonight! love to you all.
