An Impooptant Matter

Dear Neighbor Man With Dog (And Bad Hair),

I know that the strip of grass between the sidewalk and our street is not really technically anyone’s yard. But I walk through that grass everyday to get to my car. I sort of think of it as my yard annex.

I’ve noticed in the time I’ve been living in my apartment that you generally walk your dog right before I leave for work, often in my yard annex. And I also notice that you don’t pick up after the dog. Now, I don’t blame this on the dog. She can’t help your lack of manners. But truly, this is your responsibility.

I know it’s unpleasant to handle the poo. I know because I stepped in it this morning and got it on my open-toed heels, my car and most dreadfully my foot. I had to be late for work because of scrubbing my carpet and shampooing my heel and fully disinfecting my foot.

I don’t think it’s too much to ask. And please don’t think it’s because I have a cat and don’t like dogs. I love dogs. Really I do. But I don’t love your dog’s poo. So please – scoop the poop. Or you may find some kitty treats on your front lawn.

Sincerely,
Poo Shoe

We have someone in our neighborhood who refuses to clean up her dog's poop and it makes me so mad! I have to keep an eye out for it every morning. What makes it even more irritating is that there is a sign clearly posted about picking up your dog's poop. It is so annoying.

My Aunt Kathy had this problem with a neighbor many years ago. After the offending neighbor had refused to clean up the poop, she cleaned it up herself, put it in a plastic bag, and left it on his doorstep. I really wish I could do that to the girl who lives in my neighborhood, but she lives in a large apartment building.

I exhibit CONSTANT VIGILANCE when cleaning up after Che. This is mainly because, on the very first day I ever lived in our house, I tracked dog crap into the living room, a stain I can never eradicate. Obviously, the poop wasn't Che's,but I figured if I made an example of her exemplary poop removal, then others would follow. Sadly, this has not been the case.

It was horrible. I was on the bypass so I couldn't just pull off or turnaround. I had to drive ALL THE WAY to work with dog crap ON MY FOOT! I was irate. Luckily there was air freshener at the office and I sprayed down my car. I was afraid the smell would "cook" in my car. EEEWWW!
