Every once in awhile, I find a product that I feel is worthy of endorsement. So it is with St. Ives' new Olive Scrub. In general, I like St. Ives products - especially their lotions. I'd been looking for a facial cleanser (for the record, Biore's Warming Pore Cleanser is yuck-o), and I saw this advertised in a magazine. They say those in advertising are the most susceptible to it - I picked some up.
Here are the things I enjoy about this cleanser:
1) It smells lovely and fresh and sort of citrus-y.
2) It gently scrubs my face without removing the first layer of skin.
3) It takes off my eye makeup without me having to rub a lot.
4) It's actually helped my rosacea.
5) At a time when I expected my skin to be an absolute mess, it's quite clear.
And for roughly $5 or $6, that's pretty good stuff. Please cleanse responsibly.

I Feel Irrationally Angry Because Of...
...Fergie's voice...and Muppet face...
...the Burger King commercial with the fat man who pretends to be Spongebob Nopants...
...the fact that a show called "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader" can be a phenomenon in this country...
...being almost 28 and getting breakouts...enough already...
...ridiculous media spin...
...running out of Skittles again...

Best Voicemail Ever
From my brother:
"I'm stuck in traffic. It's about 6:30. And there's a man behind me in a suit and tie in a Mercedes Benz. Twice now he's stuck his finger in his nose - up to the second knuckle - and then placed the findings in his mouth. And chewed. It's absolutely horrifically disgusting. Oh! Oh! Oh! He's in it again! He is! He is! He found it! And he put it in his mouth! Ugh!! And he's back again - for a fourth time! Omigod. That's disgusting. Love you. Bye."

Extra Credit: Shower Scene
Pen's post about her weirdness surrounding the shower caddy reminded me of my own shower-related neuroses(and since she shared extras, I'm stealing her idea). I shower with the door to the bathroom open. Ever since I've lived alone, I must shower with the bathroom door open. I have the overwhelming fear that something terrible will be behind the door when I open it after my shower. This is also the reason that I only buy clear shower curtains. No fish or flowers or world maps for me. If Norman Bates is lurking out there, I want to see him coming.
And by the way, a review of my first weird confessions made me have to clip my nails last night

Weird Six
I've been tapped by Kim to reveal some of my innate weirdness to the world. Narrowing down to six was the tough part:
1. I have an overwhelming fear that the world will run out of electricity. Sometimes when I drive at night and see all the lights on in an office building or think about all the electric signs, I feel panicked. When I had a washer/dryer and dishwasher in my first apartment, I couldn't run them at the same time without needing to leave the apartment. I can't sleep if I can hear the air or heat clicking on and off, so I'll turn the air up and the heat down to the point that it only comes on periodically.
2. I've noticed lately a few habits about numbers. I have to pump gas on the fives. It has to be $16.65 instead of $16.62. And the volume on the TV or radio has to be an even number.
3. When my sister got married five years ago, I had my first and only manicure. Before that, I wore my fingernails very, very long. The manicurist cut them pretty short, and since then, I've been unable to stand long fingernails. I had to cut my nails before I left for Salt Lake City, because I knew if they got too long on the trip, I would chew them off just to keep them short.
4. I have an undergraduate and graduate degree. Neither the college nor the university I went to had a football team. Conversely, I grew up a stone's throw from Athens, Georgia, a town obsessed with its UGA dawgs. But I have never been to a UGA football game.
5. I am obsessed with my handwriting. Perhaps it's something to do with being lefthanded, which typically makes for terrible penmanship. But I practiced and practiced and practiced until I had neat handwriting. If I start to write a note to myself on a post-it, and it looks messy, I'll throw it away and start over again.
6. I am an inherently messy person. At my house, I throw clothes and shoes around without care, leave dishes in the sink, and let the bathroom go straight past EPA standards. In a hotel, I am meticulously neat. Fastidious even. I will fold my clothes, put items back in the suitcase after use and hang up the towels in the bathroom. Perhaps I need to pretend I live in a hotel.
I'm double-tapping, but I'd love to see weirdness from Pen & M, Tom, Andi, Niki, and The Growler.

In My Grill
I had to go to the dentist today. I know some people really hate - dread even - going to the dentist. Especially if you're like Kim and it seems to only lead to pain and misery. But I don't mind the dentist all that much and figure it's best to preserve the teeth that Mama and Daddy spent a lot of money straightening out. The only thing I don't like is the reminder to floss.
I don't know why, but I cannot regularly floss my teeth. It's not the I don't have floss. Or that I don't know how to floss. Or really even that I can't remember to floss. It's just that I don't like it. I don't like to floss. I know I should. And because I'm such a mint-aholic bad-breath freak, one would think that I would worry about unsightly food particles. I was taught to do it - both my parents are avid flossers. But me? I'm a flossing failure. Thinking about it makes me feel tired.
But even at 27, the hygienist will gently (or not so gently) lecture me on the importance of flossing. I know already! I know! Isn't it enough that I brush twice daily? I'm just at a loss when it comes to floss. So how 'bout y'all? Fellow floss failures or floss fanatics?
